Description

The Best of the Year (1977): Lemon Records compilation LP

The Best of the Year This is a twelve-song compilation LP released by Lemon Records in 1977. The back cover identifies it as a special edition for the Barcelona Savings Bank. The catalog for this edition is identified as AL-30.001; the photographs in this entry correspond to the copy being offered. The front cover features a portrait and a selection of titles printed in red, while the blue back cover lists the tracks on sides A and B.

The selection features songs in Spanish, French, and English, blending pop, ballads, and dance tracks from the era. Side A includes "Rockollection," "Enséñame a cantar," "L'oiseau et l'enfant," "Cuéntame," "Daddy Cool," and "Gavilán o paloma." Side B features "No llores por mí Argentina," "O tú o nada," "Son tus perjumenes mujer," "Chanson d'amour," "Soul Dracula," and "Margarita." The track listing has been verified against the back cover. The images do not list the artists next to each title, so this entry does not attribute individual versions or credits to them.

The track order follows the path of a 1977 greatest hits compilation: it begins with pop and folk songs, moves through widely popular tracks like "Daddy Cool" and "Gavilán o paloma," and closes with "Soul Dracula" and "Margarita." This description is limited to the edition information and the printed track listing, without attributing each song to a more specific artist, composer, or style than what the cover suggests.
