Luis Cobos and this repertoire
Luis Cobos was born in Campo de Criptana and studied solfège and music theory; he also learned to play the requinto guitar and joined the Beethoven Philharmonic in his hometown as a child. During his adolescence, he directed the Loyola Choir School and studied polyphony and choral conducting. In late 1968, he created Conexión, a group with jazz and soul influences, and later developed a career as a musical director, arranger, and producer. In 1982, he recorded Operetta with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road, a collaboration that began a period of albums focused on transferring Spanish repertoire to orchestral format. More Zarzuela This approach continues: the back cover organizes the selection between two pages and acknowledges the collaboration with the British band. Among the printed titles are Katiuska, The tavern keeper at the port, Doña Francisquita y The song of oblivion.
