Piano Hits This LP, released by PDI in 1983, features sixteen instrumental performances by Eric Robertson. The repertoire blends familiar film and television melodies with popular songs from the early 1980s. Side A includes "Chariots of Fire," "Endless Love," "Fame," and "Cavatina (Deer Hunter Theme)," along with "Baby James," "Sunshine Love," "The Homecoming," and "On Golden Pond." Side B continues with "Music Box Dancer," "Superman," "9 to 5," "Haunting Themes," "Arthur's Theme," "The Seduction (from American Gigolo)," "Across the Sea," and "The Rose.".

Eric Robertson (born 1948) is an organist, pianist, composer, and record producer. According to his biography from the Canadian Music Centre, he studied organ, piano, and theory in Edinburgh and later in Toronto. His career encompasses choral and organ music, work as a church musician and recitalist, film and television composition, and production and participation in recordings by other artists. This combination of experience as a pianist and composer helps place the album within the tradition of instrumental recordings that present popular melodies and screen themes in a format accessible for home listening.
